The search and rescue at the crash site is still ongoing. More than 2,000 rescuers have arrived at the site from Guangxi, where the accident took place, and from other provinces.
"The site of the crash in a mountain forest complicates the search for the black boxes and we have to rely mainly on drones and rescue staff," said Zhu Xiaodong, a rescuer with a drone rescue center in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province and also the destination of the plane.
Experts from the public security department and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) are entering the main crash site to search for physical evidence, confirm the identity of the missing persons and find out the possible cause of the accident. Some personal belongings of the passengers have been collected and numbered.
The weather was normal and there were no hazardous weather conditions when the plane crashed, an official said at a news briefing Wednesday.
As of February 19, 2022, the continuous safe flight time of China's civil aviation had exceeded 100 million hours, the best safety performance in the history of China's civil aviation industry and the best continuous safe flight record in the history of civil aviation worldwide, according to the official website of CAAC.

Nearly 70 percent of the 11,800 flights scheduled for Tuesday were canceled in advance, though an industry source told the Global Times that the high number of cancellations is not unique to Tuesday as has been the case in the recent round of epidemic.
